At the center of the coin is a camel, the key image of the “Mushel,” a twelve-year cycle in Tengri mythology in which each year is associated with a particular animal. According to tradition, the camel embodies the traits of all the creatures in this calendar cycle and therefore serves as a unifying symbol of the entire sequence. The composition also conveys the three-part structure of the world: birds appear in the upper section, linked to the celestial sphere; fish are shown in the lower section, representing the aquatic and underworld realm; and the central area is devoted to the middle world. The coin is struck in antique .925 silver, has a face value of 1,000 tenge, and weighs 100 g. Its design consists of two rotating parts that make it possible to correlate years and animals within the “Tolyq Mushel,” the full sixty-year cycle that combines five twelve-year periods.
